Air Austral Baggage Policy

A concise overview of Air Austral’s baggage policy based on the latest available information:

Carry-On Baggage:

Note: On flights with 50 seats or less, only one personal item is allowed due to limited overhead space. Non-compliant baggage may be checked into the hold with fees.

Checked Baggage (Piece or Weight Concept, depending on ticket):

For tickets purchased before Nov 23, 2021 (weight-based):

For tickets purchased after Nov 23, 2021 (piece-based, long-haul flights):

Infants (under 2, no seat): 10 kg checked baggage.

Children (2-11): Same allowance as adults.

Maximum Dimensions: 158 cm (length + width + height). Oversized baggage (158-300 cm) incurs a €100 fee at check-in; over 300 cm requires special approval.

Maximum Weight: 32 kg per bag (30 kg for Thailand routes). Bags over 32 kg are refused and must be shipped as cargo.

Special Baggage:

Sports Equipment: Counts toward allowance; if within 23 kg, included in ticket (except Light fare). Excess or oversized equipment incurs fees based on route.

Musical Instruments: Included in allowance if within 158 cm and 23 kg; otherwise, €100 oversize fee applies (max 180 x 80 x 40 cm). Insurance recommended.

Pets: In-cabin ($125 domestic, $200 international); carrier counts as carry-on, must fit under seat. Cargo transport also available.

Mobility Aids: Wheelchairs or aids carried free if passenger depends on them.

Excess Baggage Fees:

Long-Haul: €80/bag online (up to 24 hours before), €100/bag at airport.

Regional: €45/bag online, €50/bag at airport.

Oversized/Overweight: Additional fees apply; boxes not considered luggage and may be refused or charged.

Prepaid Extra Baggage: Up to 3 additional bags can be purchased online with up to 30% discount. Contact Air Austral for more than 3 bags.
